If you're installing a 16A socket the breaker should really be 16A, not 20A.

You are going g to need to drop that 20a breaker out and replace with a 16 as well...

While I dont disagree with this advice at all, most small inverter sets will quite happily run a 3.25 rod from a 13amp plug. Mine does it quite happily at the end of a 30m extension lead.

Maybe show us some sketches of what you are proposing and then we may or may not be able to guide you further.

I can run my 200amp tig flat out on a 13amp plug, and my mig...but if he wants a 16 amp socket then a 20a breaker is an issue

I guess just see where you can get to before your 13A fuse pops and if you're happy with that amount of output? Would save a lot of potentially not-needed work.

I've run a Fronius inverter stick welder off 13a plug for donkey's years, never had a problem
