so, some of you may remember when i got my lathe, the flat belt (gearbox to spindle) was shot, so i replaced it...all has been fine, but, it popped into my head this morning for some reason that i couldnt find the reight belt at the time so just ordered one that would work to get it going 'for now'
so, i ordered a 1" width 4mm belt and some aligator clip to join it.
the lathe needs, or atleast was originally supplied with a 1.25" belt, or 30/32mm for the normal amongst us.
anyone know where i can get a 32mm balata style belt? i can find 25 and 40mm on ebay, a google search brings the same results back too.
i need to take some measurements when i get home, but im pretty sre the pulleys are only 36mm wide so a 40 wont do as the high speed side of the pulley is fully enclosed
apart from some minor slipping now (i set the tension as low as possible so it slips if something jams up, rather than damage something) which just needs adjusting, ive had no issues with the 25mm belt, but i really would like to have the right belt and potentially try stitching it with a scarf joint rather than the aligator clips (that clicking noise is getting tedious)
