Makita GA4530r, Erbauer REB977 or Bosch?

I went to look at some angle grinders today as my old Toolstation one has pretty much bit the dust. I didnt think I'd be able to afford a Makita but noticed B&Q are doing the GA4530r for £55. I'll probably just go and buy this one BUT, the original grinder I was looking at was the Erbauer REB977. Its cheaper from Screwfix, has the option to move the handle into 3 position and comes with the closed cutting guard. It seemed a bit heavier than the Makita but it was hard to tell. The Bosch felt lighter but didnt have a guard on it.

Would love to know your thoughts. I'd be using it to cut Sills, floors and general thin metal. I just bought the Black & Decker Power file too so I just want something for grinding and shaping metal for around £50. Also I like the side switch. My current one is like the Bosch and it feels like my finger are in the firing line at the back.

Bosch used to be really really good... their newer ones are decent but nothing special

Id go with ghr makita, I've hkt a few different ones and thats5the one ill pull out of ghe cupboard first

It's hard to describe, the guard was always in the way, I guess it might be the weight of it or how the weight is distrubuted or something?

It's hard to put into words... its like I o ow which pants are comfortable but couldn't really explain it?

If you were not on a budget I would suggest a Metabo, still made in Germany and a much better grinder than anything else out there.

Out of those 3 I would say the Makita.
The Bosch diy range are green bodied like the one in your photo, the pro range are blue bodied.
Bosch do a cheaper 4.5" grinder for chain stores like homebase and b&q. I have one plus another one bought in an independent hardware store. There was only around £20 difference in price but the difference in quality is huge. The cheap one has only a 600w motor and a flimsy guard.
The other one is 750w, a better guard and is a lot smoother to use.

I wont buy Bosch anymore, it Chinese now....very disapointed with my prof grinders 9" and 41/2"....
Only one I have thats worse is DeWalt...

Nearly all the main tool manufacturers have stuff made in China, whether sub assemblies or complete tools.

I've petsonally not found the quality suffers due to origin. The QC should be same wherever produced.

Those green Bosch are the diy range, I’d be inclined to go for blue models which are their more professional offerings (though even they can vary in quality and price depending on model).

Having said that we had a fabricator where I used to work that had a Bosch green angle grinder that suffered years of pretty merciless abuse before it finally died.

If you can get one in your price range I’d be inclined to go for Bosch (blue), Makita or dewalt. Hitachi (now Hikoki) are also decent and not too much money. For £50 you should get something at the lower end of the pro range from any manufacturer. Up your budget and your into the heavier duty ones with bigger motors, better vibration damping, etc nice to have but not essential unless you are using them a lot.
