Lorry driver is a lucky SOB

This happened near us this morning.

I can't imagine how this guy managed to get to where he did but he's damned lucky he didn't get any further. That's an old chalk pit it's about 50 feet deep.

It happens surprisingly often...ive done 3 like that...2 in rivers and one in a reservoir...drivers too busy on grinder to look out the window at the scenery coming towards them

Looking at the skid marks I wonder if somebody pulled out of the side road that caused the lorry to brake heavy and lose control ?

It does look like a strong possibility, it’s also a weekend and the worst time to travel anywhere

Highly unlikely, that side road is the access to the sewage farm.



Lorry tyre tracks come off the opposite verge so maybe he had to avoid an oncoming speeding car at 4.30am

im going with driver fallen asleep

hit the verge woke up turned sharply to correct anchored on by the front twin tyre marks

the speed would have done the rest by pushing the vehicle over the edge

im with gaz, looks to me like they have moved off the road onto the verge, snatched it to try and get back in the road and ballsed it up
