Your lot cleared whole islands of invasive species IIRC to help native species IIRC, successfully too.
There's a problem with hedgehogs predating on ground nesting bird eggs where I am, the elephant in the room is how much damage pet and feral cats do. The hedgehogs are relocated, live, at great faff and expense. The cats are ignored. And no-one cares what happens to the rats.
My cat has a catch and release program with the baby rabbits near my house. Rabbits are also an invasive species out here. She catches them outside and lets them go alive indoors.
