what voltage does he want though 120 v 0r 240v

use it in metal cut chop saw
to speed control for metal cut blade

Does your saw have an induction motor or a universal motor i.e. one with a commutator?

If induction a dimmer won't work, you need something that varies the frequency of the power to the saw.

You could try Googling "Speed Controllers" instead of dimmers.

a dimmer will not work. your best bet would be a proper speed controller that modifies the frequency but why are you wanting to control the speed of the saw?

Im wondering if it's not for a metal chopsaw at all! Possibly one designed for wood with a metal cutting blade in it?

thats the only reason i can think of but a proper metal cut saw will be cheaper (and safer) that a speed controller

i have a stayer chop saw use abbrsiv blade the saw speed is 3500rpm
my idea is can i use carbide blades with my chop saw
carbide blade max speed for 7 inch is 5800

inverter is the way to go but you will lose toque on the motor

Chopping the frequency is no good on 1ph, as you reduce the speed you will also reduce the torque. The only solution is to use a 3ph motor

Have we established what type of motor this saw is fitted with yet? It will make a difference as to what to use to control the speed.
