Morning all,

New to the forum and pretty new to welding, I've dabbled over the years but nothing ever too serious. Anyway, bought myself a Clarke TIG and looking to learn (my first attempts haven't been too successful ^^). May look for a short, taught course local to me (Stockton-on-tees) if anyone knows of any or if any members local to me fancy earning a little beer money I'd love to be shown the basics. Thanks.

Hello Storm,

Middlesbrough college do evening classes. They usually start in September with enrolment early August I think.

I know I'm not good enough to teach anyone but if you are desperate for some moral support I could probably look over your shoulder and point out anything glaringly obvious. TIG welding is a perishable skill and all my skill has perished until I get some serious practice in again.

tell me about it...my last few projects have all been mig and i decided the other day to get the tig out for a few small brackets...jesus that was an eye opener, especially as the last time i used it i was genuinely happy with the welds...spent more time with the grinder than the welder on the brackets
