Clarke Mig 100E Condition

Hi Guys,

Just bought this Clarke MIG 100E as a step up from my previous flux core welder, just took it apart and was wondering if this rust on the transformers is particularly an issue/bad, welder is working fine currently but if there is anything i can safely do to protect this and clean it up without damaging them I'd definitely prefer to do that.

Nothing to worry about - you can clean it up if you want - I’ve seen them a lot worse .
Get a fan installed inside too while you got covers off .

240v fan on the back - think it’s 110mm case axis fan - wire it to the on and off switch
Or see if you can get a proper Clarke one and it will screw through the two holes where they is one in the turbo models
If you use a case fan you might have to put a washer between case and fan just to space it off the cover as they catch sometimes .

The fan from a scrap microwave oven is usually the correct size, voltage and the screw holes match up... just the job to keep things cooler and increase duty cycle.
