on that last pic excuse me for say , as you have done ten times the job I am capable off, but thatwasher looks a tad small re outside diameter and thickness ?A slightly longer sleeve/spacer to hold the washer a fraction above the lever arm. Now when the nut is tightened down, it can't physically clamp/lock the arm.
The original on the left.

The washer is now held a fag papers width above the arm.

It's also a snugger fit both within the arm slot & over the stud than the original.
I agree, it certainly looks too small, the flat areas on the slide (?) would accommodate a much larger washer. I did wonder if the washer it came with was a 'that al do' replacement washer found by a previous owner but it looks very similar to the one pictured on Lathes.co.ukok, just appears on the small side visually . loverly job your doing![]()
I'm unsure. There is certainly an extra part to the casting, making it different to yours. But then on top of this someone has by the look of it screwed some flat. I removed the flat some while ago and found several holes underneath so I don't quite know what has gone on in this shaper's history. Is that flat area atop the ram actually an addition, else original? That looks extremely well done if an addition. Appears to be part of the casting.
