tyre inflator?

I'm very bored with the cheap inflator/gauges, I've gone through two or three now and none of them have been anywhere near accurate.

I'm thinking of getting a PCL Mk4. they may be £62 quid but I think I will only have to buy it once.

Before I do, I thought I would ask opinions on here. I don't want a digital, nice old fashioned analogue is the way to go. I'm just talking about the inflators that attach to an existing compressor, not a combined compressor/gauge/inflator.

I bought a mk4 from @northwest on here. It's great. Gauge on it is so accurate I don't check with my handheld gauge now. I bought it for the same reason as you - got fed up with the cheap rubbish.

You'll actually find the PCL considerably more boring than the cheapies: once you are used to it, there's none of the excitement associated with uncertain readings.

The PCL tyre inflators are used by most of the professional pumperupists I know, pretty much the industry standard and choice.

Then of course there is the choice of connector, clip on or push on with open or closed end.

The other option being a decent branded calibrated air pressure gauge that will fit the cheapies. One that is marked CL1.0 and with a range only upto the max it will be used for.

Just decide what end you want, I've not had great success with the twinclip, go for the single clip on would be my recommendation.

I’ve got a pcl mk4 - great bit of kit, it just works and is accurate. Not much more to say.

Having said that I did get a dewalt inflator for when out and about and the pcl doesn’t get much use since I bought that as the dewalt one is so handy. Saves firing up the compressor.

Long hose and high flow so also huge improvement when pumping big tyres as I don't have to keep kneeling down in front of the wheel while pressurising.
Here they also sell them without dual psi scale so beware.

4 years on and the PCL MK4 hasn't missed a beat. It's done car tyres, truck tyres and tractor tyres.

Even SWMBO hasn’t broken it yet !

I have a push on end on my pcl which is fine for topping up a tyre but a pain when filling a big tyre as you have to keep it pressed onto the valve. It's also impossible to use on a tubed wheel.

Whats the best clip on end for a pcl inflator?

I got several (5) Mk3 PCL inflators in my workshop = A1 100% OK - lasted for years and stand anual calibration from the company that does our - torq wrenches/air inflators/ welding regulators...

I got one Mk4 digital one - after a few weeks the number display failed.

They have two different styles
Airforce = old style
Accura = Digital

Old style is IMHO the better offering
