I'm convinced that I've been the subject of dirty tricks by a seller this week. I bid on a piece of equipment, £300, which I didn't expect would be a winning bid but it was good for getting the ball rolling.
A couple of days later I was outbid by £5, which meant someone had put a big bid in clearly designed to jump the price from £145 to my max bid. I left them as the winning bid, I guess they were hoping I would bid against their shill but yesterday when I hadn't upped my bid that bid was cancelled dropping my winning bid down to about £145 again
And then 44 seconds later a new bid from a seller with the same feedback score went in £5 below my max bid making me the winning bidder at almost exactly my maximum bid. I guess they decided if they couldn't get me to bid myself up against their shill, they could at least make me pay the maximum I had allowed for.
In the end I was outbid by a new bidder by a fiver or so. I wanted that machine (it would have been a total bargain at £300) but I'm damned if I am going to bid up a price where there's been shilling going on.

That's sneaky! I hadn't even considered that. One to watch out for.

been that way for years
used to be easy to see as years ago you could see bidders but they changed that to protect buyers and sellers
but its rare as you can report it but they dont do much normaly
as a guess they seen you decided not to bid extra made a 2nd account and bid the max just over yours as youed get a 2nd notice that youed been out bid in the hope youed bid again

I have had the same feedback on 4 items I sold but all have been items that went over seas.
Sold the hilti te80 this afternoon and just finished packing it, chose simple delivery as it was £190 15kg which would only be fully insured if I used Royal Mail special delivery at £22 HOWEVER simple delivery was just £10 for a tracked 48 parcel but due to the special agreement between ebay/RM it's covered up to the full £190 even though 48 has a max compensation of £150 normally.
Obviously the downside is it defaults to drop off so just paid the 30p for next day collection and stuck the label on it since I'd use more in fuel getting there!

That's why you use RM tracked 48 for high value or evri if you want every hassle possible!
I want to sell an item on eBay that when packed will be just under 30 kg. Previously, I could list this as a "large parcel" but the option has now gone. I contacted eBay customer services this morning and they suggested I should enable seller hub to see more options. But that didn't work. Is it only me?

Just tried it myself.
Created a new listing. Set the start price to £1000 and Simple Delivery was automatically disabled. I can now select ParcelForce. What a mess!!!!
Seems it's now forced on everyone and only way around it is to force ebay to give it by tricking the system.

I ran into the same problem tonight. Buyer on ebay purchased the item rm 1st class. £39 car part. He needs special delivery service and happy to pay the £11 extra but I had to cancel the order as no amount of messing with the ebay system would allow him to select that option even though I can select it after the purchase on ebay platform and they take the £ from my funds
Completely idiotic in the extreme, ebay need to sort this
