Gloves for Mig

Looking for any recommendations on MIG gloves.
Not keen on the large gauntlet style.
Also need size 11 or XL
have been using plain leather driver style gloves, but do get a bit warm sometimes.

I know they say "Tig" but I cannot be doing with clown overbuilt gauntlets and these suit me, my welding and fabricating style and are flexible enough for me to work with them on. Okay, they wear quickly and you feel a bit of a heathen the first time you wear a lovely pair of gauntlets but for me I can only work with these. For actual Tig work I use these too but I also have a couple pairs of beautiful goatskin gauntlets and some deerskin.

I have a "thing" about gloves.

i use tig gloves for everything.

the main thing to remember is, the gloves arent there to let you touch or pick up hot metal, they are to protect against accidentally touching hot metal...the same goes for propping your hands on hot metal while welding. if its too hot with tig gloves, your hand is in the wrong place. just my opinion of course, but since adopting this approach my gloves last longer and my hands dont suffer as much

Have tried the Parweld P3835 tig gloves, but they feel a little bit thin. and the cuffs a bit small. when they get tangled up with my overalls it becomes a swearing fest
@northwest how long are the cuffs on the gloves, and could you cut them down?

My gloves are super light kangaroo skin leather , got them from one of the guys who advertised welders on here .

I use a gauntlet on the left hand supporting the torch, and a nice soft leather work glove on the right, I need a bit of feel.

Doesn't "Edd" use plain Nitrile ?
I saw that on his show and wondered how he got away with it.

Firstly, I will admit to a bias that I think "Edd" is a self-promoting, butt-hurt, incompetent fool. So my default response would be to recommend the opposite of anything he would suggest.
Luckily ( ) that leads right to my second conclusion that using nitrile gloves for welding is idiotic in the extreme: sure, it will stop the sunburn, but the hot globules of molten metal are just going to laugh at your "tactile" nitrile gloves as they burn 5mm into your epidermis.

Not that I have an opinion either way, of course!

+1 for TIG gloves. I've used a variety of (mainly kangaroo skin - vegetarians look away now...) TIG gloves for MIG welding, and I reserve the big cow-hide mitts for grinding.

i put edd china into the same category as jamie oliver...neither are actually in the fileds they claim to be...they both realised at a young age they were pretty naff at it, but a producer realised being incompetent but just barely believable is good for ratings, so here we are, TV channels full of people that only know what to say because there is a script involved

I like the Tegera gloves, they allow good feel through the fingers.

Another vote for cheap and cheerful tig gloves. Trade off of feel vs longevity, but its so much nicer to weld in them, especially when doing bodywork or thin stuff.
I only use the MIG ones if I've got it cranked up to 11 or for stick welding.

I recently got some Tegera 118A gloves which have the thumb, trigger finger and palm made from unlined goatskin, but the back of the glove made from thicker split cowhide.

Nice balance between my TIG Gas Welding gloves, and a proper "MIG" Glove, when doing more complicated MIG work where you need dexterity but will also get blasted with spatter.

I still like the Tegera 17 (Glove) & 19 (Gauntlet) cotton lined split leather gloves for MIG at higher power levels, and they offer serious heat protection for clumsy fools like me.



But you know the big thing I like about them...

They're actually shaped like hands!!!


Which you'd think would be the bare minimum for glove manufacturers...

But at least for welding gloves, is apparently not even on the requirements list, still.

Ok going to give the Ejendals Tegera 118A a try, there was the none of the Tegera 17 in a size 11,and some gloves come up small in the palm width.
