What tool wouldn't you miss?

Lathe !! after having one for years then getting rid of it as work had a better one i could use on night shift, but since retiring i seem to have managed without it

I can't imagine life without a lathe.

I'd probably say my 1x30" belt linisher but only because I inherited a 4" pedestal linisher not long after. The irwin bolt grip sockets don't get used either, I can usually find a less destructive way

That's my top of the list tools to not get rid of.
I do have a small 1950's or 1960's Italian made one.
I've never used it since I got it a year ago but only because I don't have a proper place to use it otherwise it would have been one of the most used tools I own.

it has to be the metal grinding disc chop saw i really hate the thing

i bought it cheap and used it once and it was a true pain in the backside to cut 5mm box section with a 5mm disc as im not keen on swapping to thinner discs 3.6mm and i have them just never installed them

i can cut that box section far quicker using the 4 1/2" grinder using a slitting disc

as goes for the plasma i really like it on long steel sheets its better than grinding with the slitting disc and much more quieter

Knipex , plier wrench. I find them awkward and clumsy to use. Never found a situation, where they are best tool to use. Far prefer a decent adjustable spanner.

I had a mounting thing that turned a 9" angry grinder into a chop saw. I threw it out last week as its been just sat there taking space.
Horrendously loud, sheets of sparks and disc dust everywhere, and red-hot cuts.
Horrible thing.
I now use a 6x4 1984 Sealey branded generic Chinesium bandsaw - much more civilised, both for me and anyone nearby.

I have a set of Snap-On spanners from 4mm to 19mm that I have never used. Well, I used the 13mm one once.

I much prefer the set of Britool spanners my cousin gave me one Christmas.

After all the fuss on here I bought an Evolution finger file. I have never found a job that I can't do with an angle grinder or a die grinder easier and faster, so after one trial it has just sat on the shelf.

You got the wrong set, I'm a machinist and you can trust my words when I say that a good set of broken studs extractors set may save the day.
They have their own place but it's always the first step.
Drill, hammer in the extractor e loosen it up.
If it doesn't try to move, weld a nut or bolt on.
If it fails, mill the stud flat spot drill, drill to tap size then use a pick to break the threads.
If it fails helicoil it.
But better starting with the easiest way possible

Yep bought a set to remove specific bolts from a Landrover gearbox cross member. They didn't work and never have on anything else.

Don't have any Snap-On tools, not being a professional bolt botherer I can't justify their price when Draper and the like are perfectly good enough for my needs. Would still like them though.

i have some spanners that are snap on and one damaged one

and snap on wont honnor there guarantee to replace if damaged they wanted a receit as the sales rep wasnt the person i bought it from while i was at the garage so i knew the rep and looked in the van often

I love my BD one. Wouldn't be without it.
Feels and looks cheap and nasty but does a great job with decent blue belts. Gets loads of abuse still fine.

my plasma isnt

all i need to do is turn on the compressor while its charging up i plug it in and set the line on the sheet and get cutting near on straight away

but i only use it on sheet steel as its much more quicker
