Van Tyres

The ol bus is in need of new shoes.
Limited availability of half decent rubber in her size.

Looking to be mostly korean or lots of chinese questionables, which is what i'm trying to move away from.

Choice appears to be from:

1; Nexen Roadian
2: Hankook Vantra
3: Nankang
4: Matador Hectorra

Thoughts/experiences anyone?

use nexen on my pug there ok, used to use expensive branded ones as i did high milage and used to fly round on callouts so they were safer

I’ve no experience of them, but I was talking to my local garagiste (a former F1 suspension engineer) last week on the same subject who really rates Hankook tyres.

Bus, camper or a van what's the limiting factor with size.

I've stuck to Goodyear van tyres after years of budget ditchfinders, get about 35k on fronts and about 45k out of rears, cheapies were half the price but wore very quick and grip no where near as good.

Old transit camper currently shod in 205r14 tyres.
No longer a common size unfortunately

Out of those 4 I would pick the Hankook.
The other 3 are ditchfinder brands.

Have you considered Kuhmo Portran tyres. I have a pair on my van and they are really good. Grip well wet and dry plus they are surprisingly good in snow!

Have no experience of any of them.
Kumho never came up in the searchs of tinterweb performed

Will be plenty of reviews on tyre comparison sites

Used to get Kumho and Hankook on my Trannies, with no dramatic moments.
I put that down to the van always having half a ton of stuff in it, so grippier.
Those were the budget tyres from the local stockist, not tried any of the other cheapies. Apart from Nankang, which is performing admirably as Darkside tyre on my GS850.

You may want to consider a slightly different size eg 215/70 if that gives more choice ....having said that there's a lot of **** rubber around these days suffering early cracking/rotting. Hankook LT is probably best on your original list

My last new van came with Michelin tyres and all four went out of shape well before they wore out. So ever since I've just fitted the cheapest I could find and some have lasted longer than the Michelins

Can you get take off's from the recycling yard ?
I was getting brand new ones still with the mold flash on them, must have
been the spare tire.

Because it is an old school size, anything half decent tend to be worn versions of above mentioned brands or pretty old

You may want to consider a slightly different size eg 215/70 if that gives more choice ....having said that there's a lot of **** rubber around these days suffering early cracking/rotting. Hankook LT is probably best on your original list

The 14" rim is the limiting factor.
Pretty much the same brands in all the profiles.
Also find the 205/80 the sweet spot size wise
It pains me to pay 100+ bucks for budget tyres, 215's even more expensive

I had the same on my van with Michelin on the rear going out of round.
Hankook would be my choice.

Nexen Roadians were the original tyres from Citroen on our Relay van. No problem with them at all, wet or dry. I regret going for Continentals on the fronts when they needed changing as they've gone out of shape very quickly and make a lot of noise

Got Michelin cross climates on the works van.. great grip in crap weather not so bad in the dry at legal van speeds. I will be getting those for my own van when I wear out the ditch finders it has on it currently

Plenty on ebay if you look around,tis where i get mine from,atm i'm running on hankooks 215r14
