Help IDing a Roof Tile

I'm gearing myself up to sort my roof, it's a big job for me.

The images below on the left is the original, on the right reclaim.

My intention is to reuse as many of the existing tiles, just re felt and baton and install a dry ridge system.

The roof has no hips and while large is a simple Apex concrete tiled roof.

The existing tiles are old, 60s maybe posible 70s but, squinting , in reasonable condition. although I am a bit concerned about how porous they might have become.

Budget constraints won't allow me to replace with new tiles all round and in any case my kids or future owner/s can deal with that, I'm hoping to get say another 20 years out of the existing.

On the left is the original, no name as to brand of tile on any of them although the type appear on a lot of older properties here in S/Wales.

It is very close to the Marley Anglia on the right but it's not a Marley and there are differences on the back of the Marley.

Can anyone help identify who manufactured the existing tile or what it's called?

If I can get any they will have to be reclaim as I doubt any are available new.

If they can't be had will the Marley do as replacements and interlock with the existing tiles?

You can clean and repaint tiles. You can either get a company who specialise in doing it or DIY it.

and by the time and cost of doing that you can re roof cheaper and guaranteed

Fit new tiles to one side of the roof and hope to get enough good ones from the old tiles to do the other side.

theres roofing merchants near us keep re claimed roof tiles and slates i re roofed my house with all the good slates i took off and about 150 reclaimed ones . i still have 50 spare slates

Maybe buy a couple of reclaimed Marley/Redland ones and try them before you strip it.
Hopefully easy to find a few loose ones to push up and allow a trial fit.

Thanks Gaz, that's the style, the form so to speak, Anglia is a single roll pantile, the + is a the double roll style.

for start off your dealing with oldish tiles they will be brittle becareful when taking them off
its strip off fast strip the old felt off and laths denail it all and then refelt it to get it water tight on high slopes you strip off and denail it before you start on the next strip off make sure its denailed before you move lower

as goes for finding them you want special places that deal with old tiles and there hard to find hence the reason why many replace them

i replaced mine at a fraction of the cost, the bargains are out there get looking

as i have replaced roof tiles often there is a quick way to do so but one person cant do it
its a 2 man job and that includes boarding to slide each tiles down it 3 man when your shifting the weight off the scaffolding or you use a belt lift

yours will be new felt and new laths after ripping everything off and your roof will last another 50-70 years

use the double laths method felt first then a lath following the rackers and then the slaters lath though you might not beable to do it if theres adjorning roofs

When I wrote my first post I tried to keep it brief.

I have been looking for a few months to identify exactly the name of the tile and who made it but without success.

I am aware it is a single roll Pantile type tile and several manufactures make this style of tile, that's not the issue that concerns me.

As I wrote in my first post it's highly unlikely my tile is made anymore, if I can find a match they will be reclaim no doubt.

It is not a Marley as I highlighted in bold, I knew/know this for two reasons, I spoke to Marley and sent them photos, they don't it recognise it as one of theirs, 2nd there is no brand name on the back of the tile.

Not all tiles have this but Marley for one for zonks have done so for most of theirs.

Look at the 2nd photo from the left, the backs of the tiles, the one unidentified on the left is mine, the one on the right is one I purchased, a Marley Anglia and is stamped Marley on the back.

Look at top and bottom of both tiles in the same photo, they are different, they are close but am wondering if the difference will prevent replacement tiles from laying flat and interlocking with the existing tiles when relayed.

So my thinking is, plan A, is to try find the same tiles as existing but I can't do that as I don't know the make or name of the tile so don't know what I'm asking/looking for.

Plan B is to use the Marley type tile as it is very close and hope I get away with it but feel a bit uneasy about this.

@Hitch has come up with a possibility and will take a look.

If no joy, I will continue to look, the exact has to be out there,---I hope.
