Dewalt clone

I've got a few dewalt tools now, drill, 1/2" gun, grinder that lasts all of 2 discs etc

I'm using clone batteries that are holding up much better than the originals did to be fair.

Want to replace my grinder for a brushless as I'm using it more and more in work, current one might last 10-15 mins if I'm lucky.

This popped up on the bay, wo dered if anyone has one, reviews, experiences etc.

Looks good but the price is very worrying even considering it's a bare tool

I've a couple of 115mm 18V Fakita grinders, brushless. I wouldn't be without them tbh. Look very similar and I paid similar.

I've a genuine Makita 18V grinder too and that's obviously better but the Fakitas are great tbh.

That's comforting to hear. The odds are the internals will be virtually the same amongst the clones...

For 23 quid I think I'll take a gamble, if it's even half decent it means I can keep a wire brush on my genuine one as that's the only thing it seems to be able to do for any length of time.

Only really want another cordless for grinding, and taking to work as I've been adopted as the yard 'fix it guy...7 of os run from a stand alone yard with no power or facilities so when stuff gets broken, if it can be bodged up enough to get it back to the main yard 35 miles away, I'm usually the guy to do it

Taken apart the bodies flex like anything but as assembled, you should get your monies worth but little quality.

Got 1 on the way now, if it does spinny thing for more than 30 seconds will likely buy another and a set of batteries...I do like having a cordless gri der, just a shame my dewalt isn't brushless

Ok, if you need another take a look at this and on occasions you can get the real thing, used, a bit battered but functional on the auction site fo £50 delivered.

We have a few Mellif cordless tools that use dewalt batteries and they are.pretty good

Do yourself a favour and add some grease to the output bevel gears before you use it.
The amount they add during production of those clones is minimal.

The same factory can make high quality and low quality products as the retailer wants , the production lines may be in the same factory but separate, all the extra steps and quality control in a genuine too, the safety measures in the BMS in the battery are deleted, the battery cells are low quality and not the capacity stated ect.

I believe this happens a fair amount and not just with tools, washing machines comes to mind.

Well I've just had notification that it has been delivered, will check it out when I get home

Pretty late getting home so will leave it till the morning to give it a test, but all in all doesn't feel as cheap as I was expecting. Little bit disappointed the gaurd isn't a tool free arrangement like my others. But to be fair I don't think I've ever moved a guard once it's on there...if its on there...switch seems nice and solid, ergonomics are better than the dewalt, but it is a bit heavier.

Will take it into work tomorrow and give it a go. I've got some crusty stainless on the exhaust tip I want to try and clean up with a paint prep pad before polishing it so will give it a go on that

So, short review but,

It works.

Things i like. It has soft start, it has a latching switch (I'm not a fan of the trigger type switches), it's nicer to hold than the dewalt, hasn't got the daft hand guard type handle and it has 3 selectable speeds which is nice and will possibly come in handy and it has its own permanently lit battery gauge so you haven't got to keep flipping it over and pressing the button on the battery to check.

Things I don't like, the guard isn't tool free, it seems a bit heavier than the dewalt and it's not as nicely balanced when you have a 9ah battery on it. That said, the 6ah battery suits it better.

Haven't had a chance to run a battery down yet to see how long it lasts, but it seems to cut just fine. It is also a smidge quieter than the dewalt
