Tool drawer foam

What foam you guys out there using in your tool drawers?
Yes i see that stuff called shadowfoam but bloody hell it isn't cheap
So,whats a good alternative?

I've got the Clarke equivalent and it works great up to a point. It keeps the tools from sliding around but I find the whole lot, mat and tools, gradually makes it's way to the back of the drawers!

I'm using left off EPDM? rubber roof liner in mine. It the stuff used under living grass roofs.

I use ribbed rubber matting, you can get rolls of it pretty cheap and it doesn't wear or dent. Which is fine for static cabinets.
But I don't think that's what the OP is on about?

If you have cabs on the move, you really want something you can cut to insert the tool shapes into

Foam is extortionate.
I’ve been on the hunt for an economical option as I have several acres of stuff I need to foam in.
You can buy sheets of foam from specialist suppliers, and layer it if you need the shadow effect - but it is still not exactly cheap.

I've also considered gym/yoga mats, horse mats, play flooring tiles, etc. I haven’t yet found anything suitable at a price I like.

Foam no, there's way too many tools in my draws to fit in any foam.

I do have a thin anti-slip matt, but only to protect the draws paint surface.

Just buy more tools....simples.

I’m using some second hand gym mat that I found on Facebook marketplace that is dual coloured. Can’t remember the price I paid but don’t think it was much more that £20 for 6 sq m

I remember many, many moons ago, using a sort of polystyrene foam-like material that you simply pressed tools into, so no cutting out required. It seemed to work quite well.

Flashback memory time: I blagged some large sheets of solid foam from my local garage, I think it came over as windscreen packing

Every time I see shadow foam used it always seems that more space is taken up by the foam than the tools.
I always used gym mat (eva foam) as a base, sharks teeth work well for spanners, cutlery drawer trays, and rails and clips for sockets.This was for a professional non mobile toolbox.

How thick are they? Halfords website says 7cm, which I highly doubt.
