torching off the tops is the wrong thing to do as you loose what they was designed for
as for the mistake it wasnt a dig its just too expensive to adjust what you have already to get it right and water tight and i see that hence why i havent said anything on the subject
but i can work with i beams and lowering between them just to fit either decking or use grating as that can be level with your i beams
your also not dealing with it being water tight as it dosnt need it
ive even looked at welding 4mm to the i beam itself so it creates a level floor with the i beam and your still dealing with 20mm
your still going to need a supporting structure under it and one side ( underside ) would need to be galvanised as you want it to last years
