Are there any decent air file belts?

They’re more expensive but offset by how long they last. I bought some Mikwaukee ones as the ones that came with their powerfile were just as impressive. I’ve no idea who makes them for Mikwaukee though. They work out cheaper than 3M in packs of ten but probably not in bulk boxes.

I have been using these from CSM abrasives, red ali oxide ones on grp & metal for a couple of years now, reasonably priced & last really well, only belt that broke was when i ran up against a sharp edge & cut the belt.

The seller did respond on the Norton belt issue I had as follows

Sorry for the delay, I have been a bit manic this week. I have looked over the last batch of belts, which yours were part of, and I can see that the joint is not as strong as it needs to be, it had enough adhesive on, but I dont this this was pressed and prepared correctly, sometimes this happens. When this does happen, although very rarely, it will always be the small belts which are found to have the problem due to the extremely small contact wheels prompting the edge of the joint to stick up and then tare away.

Since the 3m belts work great I'll stick with them but good to know it was likely a bad batch.

@JOEPRO did you buy the 3m belts from a specific supplier?

I need some more belts as I think I'll use my current stocks up repairing the boat next week.
