The single slotted nut seams to allow a screwdriver to fit.


But I need some in a Whit thread.

If it is for a screwdriver, the tool can not be used when assembling this.

Oddstock hospital Wi Fi is a bit limited on what it will allow their pages to show.

I think it's a replacement that happened to be in a near-enough thread (could the slotted one be a UNC, as they sometimes cross over with the same TPI?) It looks more modern than the square nut on the other screw, both in style and finish. I only know the style as a slotted hex, so don't know if there's a specific technical name. I'd get another square one if you want them to match. BSW square nuts are reasonably available.

A knurled thumb nut in the correct thread and judicious use of a hacksaw and warding file would make what you need.

A coin would be used as the screwdriver for this application.

Also for using with a special tagged spanner ,........ like an angle grinder key spanner that has a cut out for the thread . such spanners were often off set to allow 1.4 turns .

I've used them for lock wiring a series of nuts on drilled studs to stop them coming undone on gear box gearstick mounting covers . Seems a better option than drilling the hex faces of a bolt head that often sheared when done with smaller bolts under 15 mm AF.

I have seen these nuts used as lock nuts before. The bit with the slot is slightly crimped in to stop it vibrating off. Used on small engines sometimes.
