Flux Core welding with ESAB 205ic

Can anyone tell me what is should be running on the nozzle. The standard mig nozzle seems to clog up with slag. .030 wire. ESAB Rebel 205ic

You can go commando without the shroud.
Personally,I put 4 slots down the end of the shroud and squeezed together to lessen the dia.

As suggested, you can leave the nozzle off if it is self shielded.

You might also increase the standoff (perhaps it is too little) and adjust parameters to minimise spatter. You have probably tried those but worth a mention.

The pix looks like the contact tip is not aligned with the rest of the gun ?

It does look loose.

Is polarity correct? I can't remember which is which but it's reversed for gasless compared to gas.

On this nozzle, the shroud hold the contact tip against the gun. I don’t think I could run it without the shroud

I am having trouble imagining it as well. If the nozzle insulator comes in to hold the contact tip, how does the gas get out? Is it slotted? Is it FCAW-S only?

Perhaps I am just unimaginative - apparently so, here are the catalogue items.

I have the same set up in my thermal arc 181i fabricator, the shroud holes the contact tip in place, there is a ring inside the shroud with a series of holes allowing the gas to pass through which also holds the tip in place.

Must be an insulator in there some where, have a look yourself.

I wouldn't think so. The parts list doesn't show inside the nozzle but given the metal thickness and the imprints around the outside of the nozzle, there must be an insulator inside.
