I spent a couple of years on the trike project just aching for the day I could have that V8 sound, and power, on the other end of a twist grip.
I did it once in the Philippines with the V8 bike I built, I had it up and running, but it never moved under its own power. Totally impractical for the state of the roads and the psycho traffic over there.

I am gutted for you not finishing the trike kida. And shame you get to ride the bike. The reason i want to go SBC engine is for the grunt and sound and such a great engine in all. I cant imagine the feel of an SBC in a trike. when its so good in the Vette weighing 1600kg.

I also put a 350 in the hot rod I built in the Phils, some 15 years after the bike.
Amazingly the guy I bought the motor from had saved the frame from the V8 bike from years before and was begging me to rebuild it into a running bike again. Too many other parts had been lost though, it would have taken too much work to replicate.

Now the labour of love has truely started.
I am doing it a couple hours a night for now. I reckon on maybe 24 hrs to get it done. Although tonight i did a little on the bonnet and my god it got some coats on that.
i am hitting first with 60G to get the main off then 120G to get to the original primer ( yellow )
The T Tops showing the bubbles. worst area realy.
I had to take this right back.
Its not to bad on the nose and wings only a few coats.
Except for the sides near the vents. going to be a looong job ahead.
The bonnet which is as big as small hatch back .
This is where one of the big bubbles were on the bonnet. ended up around 30mm in diameter.
It will be well worth it. Shame there is a bit of damage on each panel/section otherwise i could of gave a quick 120 and.......nah that would be a waste of time and daft. Proper job needed. .
I think i have decided to go 2k etching primer instead of Epoxy. Aslong as i do a good prep job, which is what its about it will be fine.

Etching primer gives the best adhesion as does epoxy, Epoxy is best but not easy to flat back and drying times for Epoxy is a lot longer.

This killing me \, well my fingers, i have had enough for a day or two as my fingers are cut up to much and soaking in Savlon.
A good 2/3rds through though. not including the bloody bonnet.
I mentioned i was going to try paint stripper on it.
so bonnet off again, glad its not to heavy as i did it on my own again.
I have used Strippitmax before and work well. must be the type of paint for reason it not working.
I gave it two atemps and the stuff didnt even touch it, maybe polished it as it looked even shiner once i washed it off haha. First left it for 8hrs, then 12hrs. and well
First coat
Second coat left over night
Therefore as it didnt work i have had to buy a new sander as the other has packed it. Going to be a long haul this one. bit more power than the Makita i had. 300w to 400w, not that i can tell on the bonnet lol.
This taken an hour and half to do. I am going to get hold of old school razor blade and see if it will scrape off, so many coats though....we will see.
ON a good note all i have to do in the rear arches and back end.
As said my fingers are killing so next ill remove the glass in the doors so i can remove the wingmirrors . then the handles so then i can remove the last bit on the doors. Then remove the seals which will take some doing to clean that back aswel as there stuck on with adhesive.
As for paint, after all the faffing picking and choosing from 2pk to Epoxy i went wiht Epoxy, be daft not to after all this. mite aswell do a proper job. After all the boats i ahve painted i dont know why i questioned it really. Epoxy sticks better, is water proof so i can relax in leaving it before the next coats go on with no damp getting through.
out the two Epoxies Lechler primer and Rustbuster 4102
And a new gun for it. My gun has a 1.4 tip, and this is a 1.8 and for £28 for gun and gauge its a bargain.

Same as original. I was tempted to change to the modern flat grey type but it will be more work in the prep. I do like the original blue though. one reason i lkiked this Vette, near all original colour and a manual

Its done for now, and i am done for now.
It will do as there are a few more faults i need to sort but i am sort of happy with it for first attempt.
These needed a fettle.
I just about had enough West System epoxy and filler left to sort these out.
And this was bugging me . the driver door set back a few mm so i had to srot it now.

All primed up with 3 coats, now i could find the area in need of repair. a crack on the PS head light cover. On the bonnet was an old repiar that needed to be made better, that was about it.
Flatting back wasnt to bad for an Epoxy primer.

First coat
I had contamination but easy fixed that.
Than after another two coats i added three coats and a dust coat of clear coat.
It had a good amount of nibs to get out so hit it with 1500G all over and then got the nibs out as much i could for now.
