He's doing it every day in all weather. I couldn't do 4 in a day in a heated workshop with a ramp.

Depends what they were....

Three VAG clutches - even with subframes down - yeah that possible on a ramp with tools kit & about you.

But chuck in a Kia or Hyundai - or some French stuff with DV6 engines and a nasty bolt near the dpf - that would slow you down.

But even at my age - I will book into diary - two clutches a day - they easy work in the grander scale of things - straight "meckano" - nuts and bolts.

Honestly: Young man with some work in him - forget the tech of modern car repairs - get himself a one bay workshop - with enough head height for a simple two poster ramp - few simple hand tools - airgun/battery wrench - with a bit of hard work - he could earn well

Wow a lot of answers, just logged on.
It it folds into a seat, so I can clean/paint my car or work on the brakes etc. when its on the quick Jack, was wondering if a seperate seat would be better. the wheels are gone on my Lidle one I bought, and need a chair as well.

There is loads of clearance under the quick jack, and the floor is smooth. just thinking " Jack of all trades master of none".

Definitely better with a dedicated mechanics creeper stool and a car creeper. The folding ones work great day one and fold the wrong way thereafter! Junk IMO.

At work (upholstery not mechanic) I use a cheap salon stool that once the wheels fell of I replaced with castors from machine mart. Had to also recover it being an upholsterer.I've two one for work, one for home.The work one has a metal frame which is probably better and they only cost less than £20.My missis thinks they look like pork pies.

I just use the wifes old yoga mat.

As for the creeper, the most useless thing I have ever bought. Totaly useless. When you're in you 70's how the hell do you get on it. As for getting off it, you just lie there wondering, after all you've got plenty of time to think about it, being an old frat.

As for actually applying a lit of load to a spanner, how the hell do you do that with out swinging around the place. Useless.

Get one of the garden kneelers with side handles to assist you getting up & down . Use simple flat kneeling pads to protect your knees as you get up & down .

I'm 74 , got a bust spine artificial knee joint and a severely gammy shoulder plus trigger fingers on both hands.

I use the kneeler frame & pads to get down on my tum then roll over & slide to where I want to be . Work out which leg you need to bend & support you as you lower yourself down ( same getting back up ensure you protect your knees ) A small battery impact gun sockets & other impact driver tool tips will sort simple nuts & big screws .

Open jaw spanners aren't problematic as I use my legs to anchor myself in place Tight smaller screws are sorted with a small battery drill in hammer mode & reverse & 1/4" drive sockets or tool tips often used with a few 1/4 " extensions and a decent universal joint

I have honestly never thought of trying that!!! What a brilliant idea.

Took me two days to do a Pug 406, first time I'd done a front wheel drive clutch, hated every moment of it.
