well it does stick them together same as stone face even though its krapIf anyone has any doubt about the viability of brick adhesives, zoom in on the blocks between the column's. They are glued into place! My mate helped refurbish the place.

I'll get round to filling the cracks at some point.
Done an excellent job there...need something that will get into and seal the cracks.
Some sort of grout isn't a bad idea...something weatherproof with the consistency of a self leveller maybe...then brush it into the cracks. Colour match will be the challenge.What about some tile grout

I used a weak PVA solution on the mating surfaces, then this stuff from Toolstation: C-Tec Power Grab n Bomd Construction Adhesive.You have done a good job of that. What adhesive did you use in the end?
