There is a kiddies melting plastic filament toy a heated pencil hat seems ideal for additive plastic welding things like that .. I repaired the flip up lid hinges wit one on our dog food bin about 8 yrs ago & it's still in use

Fair play to you,I don’t have the confidence though,it’ll only break somewhere else,all that UV.

My speedglas expired at 15 year old, a 9000 flexview, just replaced it with a 9100fx. Old mask had a hard life in the shipyard for years and then an even harder one on site, I decided to let it rest!

my speedglas is at least 15 years old , I fitted the replacement head band a couple of years ago , its ok , but not as good as the original pale grey one.

I’ve a Speedglas 9002d I bought at the very start of my fabrication apprenticeship in 2002 it’s still in use daily,ironically it’s headband snapped in the exact same way as the op,a s/s plate and a few rivets and that headband lasted another few years until I had to buy a new headband….that filter has had to have darkened over a million times at this stage and still works flawlessly.The only thing was it was pretty basic it only has shade 9 to 11 so is a bit bright for high amp stuff.
I’ve 3 9100’s of different sized filters now added over the years the lastest is a 9100fx adflo from eBay it’s the 9100xxi im very impressed by it so far.
In terms of reliability the Speedglas are in a different league
