110v to 240v

Seem to remember a recent thread having something to do with this but actual topic eludes me.
I know transformers are available in this direction but wondering if anyone has swapped round a "yellow box"
Looking into making, an essentially redundant, 110v genny useable again

A standard UK bulding site transformer has its 110v output configured as 2 x 55v centre tapped to earth (so the maximum shock you ever receive is 55v). Hence, a simple revesal of input and output might not work.

It is possible to buy a 110v to 240v transformer in the same form factor that will do what you want.

Transformers are reversible units
So your normal job site transformer has 220V input connected via a cable and a plug to the transformer windings .
Your output is connected to the 110V sockets.
Now very easily you disconnect the input cord and output wires and just connect a 110V cord and plug to the original output terminals on your transformer.
Replace the 110V sockets with 220V ones and connect them to the original 220V input terminals
Now you have your 110 to 220V job site transformer

Disconnect the ground terminal to the 0 terminal on it and tap the ground to the transformer core

We were spitballing Friday night on making currently useless carp useful again.
Obviously with no outlay , or very little at most
