I have this PCB that has a failed MOSFET which I need to replace. It's a control module for the ABS on my bike. The whole system appears to be working except that this FET seems to have failed short so it runs the front ABS pump constantly whether the ignition is on or not. The ABS module is powered directly off the battery so the pump literally runs all the time the battery is connected.
Here's a pic showing the type, it's a 2N06L07:
Someone else I know has a similar unit fitted with a different make of MOSFET a BUZ111SL . I have checked and the properties of both types are similar however I cannot find either to buy in the UK. Can anyone help with suggestions for a source of either, or yet another compatible?
Along with that, what's the chance of me being able to successfully remove and replace this with a standard 15w soldering iron and ordinary solder. I do have a soldering heat gun but I have never used that for surface mount stuff (normally I use it for shrinking heat shrink sleeving). I'm far more comfortable with an ordinary tip iron.
At the death of it I can rip off the whole ABS system which is what a lot of people do, but I'd like to have a go at fixing it first with very low risk if I get it wrong. This has all started from lack of maintenance, dirty oil and the bike left standing by the previous owner, casing one of the abs pumps to stick and torching the armature in the little motor. All that is now fixed and working but the extra load of shorting the winding has knackered this part so I want to replace it.
Cheers
Pete.
