Or Mrs Blobber driving it...To be fair probably not Mercedes fault as they most likely spec'd it for non third country roads
"Shortened and stiffened it mate, that'll be five hundred quid, thanks.
All ive got to do now is either go to Mercedes and bend over or wade through the vast aftermarket range of one size fits all springs and hope I get the correct ones!![]()
I might try a few dealers, didn't have a great deal of luck with service parts, they were double the price of genuine stuff I got off ebayObviously springs should be replaced in matching axle sets.
Mercedes genuine springs for each car do have a sliding scale of the weight range if springs depending on the car's factory options. So it's best to try and identity the paint markings on your old springs and also have the dealer compare their end. Eg, you are looking for something like 2x yellow stripes and 1x red stripe is the typical format may be other colours of course.
Genuine MB parts are generally competitively priced to be honest you won't save a whole lot by going to aftermarket suppliers. If you do- then options are limited but should still mostly work OK albeit ride height may be slightly too low or high if fussy. (Which I am, hence I use genuine springs)
yea like clockwork on the railway crossing and allways the 1st coilcommon fault with a lot of makes , brothers rav 4 had one go on rear and last week tother brothers on his small (breed unknown) car on front . plus walking to end of road last month ,low and behold similar coil on road..seems they break regular.

A small independent garage I went to for an MOT last year told me they had changed over 100 springs in the previous year, multiply that out nationally.yea like clockwork on the railway crossing and allways the 1st coilthe quality of modern springs is diabolical its rare that springs ever used to snap . ive had 4 go in the last 15 years
Have you seen the price of C class washer jets,? They are certainly not cheap!Genuine MB parts are generally competitively priced to be honest you won't save a whole lot by going to aftermarket suppliers.
I’ve helped at mate out last week at his small garage/MOT test center for a couple of days , ended up having 4 broken springs in 2 daysA small independent garage I went to for an MOT last year told me they had changed over 100 springs in the previous year, multiply that out nationally.

Washer jet £50!No I haven't.
And I'm sure there are lots of examples of hugh prices too. But for general service parts they are usually very competitive.
I buy 20L of genuine full synthetic engine oil from my MB dealer for £60+ vat as one example. You won't find cheaper engine oil anywhere else....
Granted I get discounted prices for service items when I'm there as I buy alot of parts for my own cars from them.
If your lucky it’s a split hoseI 'think' I've blown the turbo on my Octavia, Was in a slow moving queue of traffic coming out of Burton, Slip road onto the A38. put my foot down, Big Bang and lost power. Won't go above 60mph, changing gear doesn't help much
No lights on the dashboard to give me a hint.
