Used to be a 2" ball here - still some trailers around with 2" hitches. I was hoping my old 50mm hitch on my old car transporter trailer would drop on the new 2" ball mount I bought in the US for my Challenger . . . but no. Had to find a similar style of bolt on ball but 50mm in Germany to replace it.

Are they one shot devices like pipe crimping tools? Pull the trigger, they go until full cycle completed? Consdiering the hoops you have to jump through, the standards to be covered in machines to protect operators, to allow such devices out on the public seems . . . interesting.

Atrocious but not surprising.
My cousin cut the tip off his finger, plastic surgeon sewed it back on. Next dressing change nurse ripped the dressing off, taking the finger tip with it. Too messed up to re-attach.

I strongly suspect the "Milwaukee" Pruner @knighty had in that picture is not genuine. It is a aliexpress or similar one.
Hence, yes it wouldn't have proper safeguards and rigorous testing unfortunately.
That is a life changing injury I do hope you recover from it quickly.

In Japan they often have Surgoens being asked to add toes to fingers to replace ones lost following someone making an mistake that offended the local Yakuza. I think there was an example in one of those John Wick movies. Little toe and index finger look quite alike.

As a kid my dad chopped the top off on one of his fingers, an old gypsy woman put it back on , then took my dad into a shed and wrapped the finger in all of the cobwebs she could find. Good as new after a few days. I also remember one parachuting holiday in Spain where the Red Devils turned up in their plane , there was a go kart track next to the drop zone so late one evening after a few jars someone issue a challenge so we went racing against them . During the race one of the RDs managed to get his finger caught in the chain taking the from the top knuckle off, come midnight there we all were walking around the track with torches trying to find his finger so he could go to hospital. Walking back to the DZ someone asked it it hurt, a female member of the RDs said “of course not , he’s a Red Devil” to which I replied “ If he had been a real man he would have finished the race “ At least the victim laughed

Does a torch count as a tool?
I used to work at a place that would occasionally send out batches of gifts for magazine subscribers.
One month we sent out 1000+ "retractable dog leads with a built in torch - batteries not included".
We got a lot more than 50% returned as faulty, most with a "Torch does not work" note attached.
We soon found out they don't work if they don't have batteries in them, put batteries in and they all worked fine

Damn, sorry to see that, these are dangerous tools, scare me more than the chainsaws and need the same respect.
For that reason I have a strict rule. I hope it may help someone else avoid a lost digit - when not actively cutting, turn it off - much like your not supposed to walk around with a running chainsaw with the brake off.
I dont know about the Milwaunkee, but the chinese ones have a slide mechanical switch or a button that needs to be held a couple seconds. To turn on, you need the switch plus a timed double tap of the trigger. They turn off auto after a minute ( dont auto close, but needs the timed double tap to wake it back up).
I have a cord around the handle with two carabiners to clip to belt, so Im not putting it down, but I climb trees with it. One carabiner is next to tool and other is at full arms stretch away.
As for the trigger, the ones I opened up to inspect, do not have an electrical switch, theres a magnet and a hall sensor, so anything magnetic nearby could trigger them. The blade limit switches are done the same way. The instructions should probably warn about magnets..
I did stab my arm with one, turned off and jaws shut, whilst pulling brambles. It was quite deep and will take a long time to disapear. Also the point has destroyed many of my shopping bags, so I recently made a tip cover for storage - they should come with one!
I have seen smaller than the now standard ball hitches here too, long time ago now though.

yep... it was a bit of a shock
I had thick gloves on at the time (for the brambles)
felt the secateurs cut me but didn't know how bad it was, the glove was cut, so I peeled the glove back to look and realised I was peeling the finger back too :-o
these ones aren't, you leave go if the trigger and the open up straight away - it was a bit frustrating in use because if you were cutting 20 bits of brambles you had to make sure you were all the way through before leaving go of the trigger otherwise you had to go again
but... bet that same thing has saved a lot of fingers!
I bought it with a bunch of other stuff, it looks legit, but it could well be a good fake
I can normally spot a fake drill etc. no idea about secateurs
