I find liquid skin is very useful stuff...seems to speed up healing but also keeps dirt out so can usually keep on working.
We had a new HS&E manager at work 2 years or so ago. StJohns Ambo volunteer.
Did a toolbox talk on burns with the workshop...made himself a laughing stock standing in front of 15 welders, opening line was
'So, have any of you had a burn before?'![]()
You jest, one lad a a little run off plate fall off into his lap ages ago"Would you like to see my scars, in places you couldn't imagine?".

I try to remember to keep my gloves on when I put the torch or rod down. Been caught out a few times thoughIs it just me or do others do this, pick up things they have just welded? Managed to do it twice or thrice the last time I was welding![]()
When I worked in the welding shop for a while I got into the habit of ‘double taping’ anything I was going to pick up. The idea being that it takes a second to realise something is too hot to touch, so by quickly touching it, letting it go, then picking it up properly your brain realises it’s hot and you hopefully don’t take a firm grip on it.Is it just me or do others do this, pick up things they have just welded? Sounds like a good trainer . . . you still remember it 2 yrs later. I can't remember most of our H&S "training" the moment I get up to walk out . . .We had a new HS&E manager at work 2 years or so ago. StJohns Ambo volunteer.
