What are folks paying for crushed hardcore? Just getting some prices for a bit of work to see how far out I am! probably need about 100 ton

i got 60 tonnes of thin tarmac chunks when the councill re did the footpaths for under my drive free 6 ten ton loads . saved em hauling it 15 miles away

It doesn't go far

It all gets snapped up by the farms around here

100 tons dumped on the ground takes up a very small amount of space.
I bought 88 triaxle loads of demo brick for my drive, IIRC 25 tons each load.

We’re over 20 quid a ton plus Rachel's cut now, including haulage, 20 ton loads for type 1. 40 mm crusher run a bit cheaper but not much. Recycled is dearer as its further to get it here.

Also worth looking at alternatives, if you have a quarry nearby they can sometimes offer good deals on reject stone. Did a job in Midhurst and the local stone was a lot cheaper than the crushed, more to do with logistics.

We used 200t of crusher run, 200t of Type 1 and 65t of gravel to do our drive...

You've got a keeper there. A wife that can wield a shovel, thats something that most of us can only dream of.

My Mrs wouldn't know what a shovel was if it fell out of the sky and smacked her on the head.

I'm not sure about prices now but Jan Smith (Welton quarry) was the cheapest around these parts , mind you'd still need to pick the wood out of the cheapest stuff !

We got the last crushed stone from them for the drive, 80 ton but not as cheap as i need for this job

I bought a load last year for £20 a ton. I collected it though. The guy i get it from gives me his yard and machine keys and lets me help myself and then I just tell him how much I had.

You've got a keeper there. A wife that can wield a shovel, thats something that most of us can only dream of.

My Mrs can use a shovel, but usually only for s*&£t, she can drive the digger too, but thinks its going to tip all the time, She lacks the finesse inside a shed with it though! But its a good way to shake any moss off the roof.

For stone try asking for scalpings, its like waste and still has the odd bits of muck in it!

Scalpings have their limits I find,as there usually sub 20nmm so will often require a sub base of larger lumps.
They do compress very smoothly with a wacker plate though.
