We went in on the ground floor and looked at a house for sale. The under ground garage must have held 50 cars. I was thinking of the possibilities and Dad said to look about upstairs. After looking through 3 or 4 rooms We discovered the place was an old funeral home. Mom left quite quickly...............

On another property hunt I was after somewhere to work on cars a bit bigger than a double garage and 1km away found a small stone construction slaugherhouse cheap and in my budget and it still had the hook gantry and hooks, and drain channels cast into the floor. Great I thought, make the lighting better as it was gloomy and dank, has 3 phase already for the equipment, the carcass gantry supports a whole cow for butchering so its going to support a engine or gearbox and it runs everywhere in the building. And drain channels, perfect for wash down of things and spillages. It was up for sale because the owner had died, and over here a property is split between all the siblings etc. 5 of them agreed to the offer of the asking price, but two refused to sell unless the price was doubled, we think to spite the others in some inter family rivalry, so it fell through and ended up buying current place to convert instead. I had loads of comments from relatives etc saying oh no, haunted by malicious dead animals as it had seen so much death and all that nonsense, but I dont buy into any of that so it just makes it better as less interest.
I still pass that building occasionally and wonder what might have been, and now its run down and derelict and full of old sofas and junk, probably same people own it still.

It's an amazing space. Too close to busy roads and hoards of people for country folk like us though.
I'd also need to have a mortgage till I'm about 70 years old to manage the 2.5 million. Then God knows what it would cost to make it livable, if the council would even give permission for a dwelling.

Its funniest when they find more asbestos than Turner & Newall used to keep in stock, the ever smarmy Kevin McCloud has covered a few of those. The super steep ones were they get permission for an extension but require piling to the centre of the earth to shore up the site and a large tower crane on site for months are even funnier. Nice work for contractors though.

Its funniest when they find more asbestos than Turner & Newall used to keep in stock, the ever smarmy Kevin McCloud has covered a few of those. The super steep ones were they get permission for an extension but require piling to the centre of the earth to shore up the site and a large tower crane on site for months are even funnier. Nice work for contractors though.

Wait a few weeks for the novelty to wear off and sneak in with a felt tip and draw a few cracks in. That should pour a bucket of cold sick over the episode.

Put another round floor or two on.

Ok demolishing the crows nest would lose a lot of space but it's so frikin ugly, might be worth the sacrifice.

In any case if it was mine, hope I could come up with something better than the existing.
