Door Bell Question

My question might come across a bit daft.

When I bought the property it had a wireless doorbell and press, works fine, reasonably loud.

The one drawback, the bell press is not illuminated, it does so when pressed for a couple of seconds but not constantly illuminated, 24/7.

Not an issue, just buy a wireless setup that does this, can't find one, is one made?

as a wireless bell push, that would possibly be a bit heavy on batteries...maybe a PIR lamp above it so when people get close its illuminated?

Wireless buttons generally run of a tiny coin cell.
If you must have it permenently illuminated you could mount a 18650 battery housing nearby, and with a suitable resistor wired in parallel to the LED. If you have it just dimly illuminated, you would stilll get the visual feedback of it lighting up more when the button pressed.

Open up doorbell, find the LED and solder two additional wires, which may not be easy, if its surface mount type. Theres a risk of damage depending how good you are at opening electricals and soldering.

Fix battery in suitably waterproof housing, wire it to a resistor and to the LED. A variable resistor may be best to avoid guesswork.

With fully charged li ion cell, 4.2v, 420 ohms would give 10mA and should be visible. 140ohms would be 30ma and should be around the normal rating for a small LED.

The battery won't last long.
10mA is 0.01A. Each day it will use 24 x 0.01 = 0.24 Amp-hours from the battery.
18650's are typically around 2.5 Amp-Hour capacity. That means the battery will last about 10 days before needing to be recharged.
A more efficient method would be to flash the led.
Something like on for 100ms then off 900ms.
That would make the battery last 10 times as long.

The forward voltage drop (Vf) of an LED can be found on the manufacturer's data sheet but for a typical five millimeter red LED is approximately 2V.

Assuming a supply voltage of 4.2 volts and the LED forward voltage drop of 2 volts that leaves 2.2 volts to be dropped across the current limiting resistor. If we desire a forward current of about 10 milliamps, we can use the equation R=V/I to calculate the required resistor value, 220R. Conveniently this value belongs to the e24 series.

Think this ticks the box. I have the POE (power over ethernet) version, and in the config of the doorbell itself, you can select the ring illumination behavior, always off, always on, or lit for a duration when someone is detected nearby.
Even lit 24/7, half the delivery people just knock on the door then drive off still. More effective is a great big notice saying "PRESS HERE" and a arrow pointing to the button.

Is the issue that knocking on the door is not always heard, depending on which room you are in. But you always hear the bell....providing the visitor notices it when dark.

For the last 13 years doing this job I ve knocked and rung the doorbell On arrival to every house.works fine for me...

Not here, if I'm in the barn or the workshop its 40 yards across the yard to the back of the house, so you can knock or toot your horn all you want and all it will do is set the dogs off. Press the doorbell and my music player cuts off and plays a message that someones at the door. If we're out and about, the doorbell actually calls us on our mobiles and we can have a two way with the person with it, put the parcel over the wall near the gate but dont open it or go in or the dogs will have you, that sort of thing.
The reolink lights up and plays a chime to the person pressing it too, so its obvious that it works.
