I’ve made a deep drive socket for tightening/ slackening the nuts on field gate crooks. Used a draper 30mm socket cut in half and then the two bits welded onto a five inch bit of steel tubing. No pictures, got too engrossed in what I was doing!

Mostly, some split -turned core print pattern ends for a two- stroke cylinder barrel that I am intent on casting.
Superglue was very much my friend....

I have recently decided to have a go at drumming. So I bought a set of 2nd hand electronic drums for the brewery tap room, and I've got a smaller set up in the office for practising the boring stick control exercises. The drum stool that came with the full set of drums is the cheapest of the cheap. Wobbles and very uncomfortable, not ideal for a beginner in their 60s with a history of sciatica. So I bought a new posh drum throne and decided to repurpose the old stool, but without destroying it so that I can sell it on when the time comes.

This is the seat base, the 6mm thread of the seat clamp was stripped so tapped it out to 8mm and found a replacement knob, but it was still pants.

This is when I decided I was polishing a turd and decided to repurpose it as a snare drum stand. This is what the seat pad connects to.

So I turned up a little adapter that sits on that and has an 11.3mm spindle to take the drum. It just a few bits from the scrap bin.

The v-drum sits on it nicely

I also had to mount the Alesis Samplepad Pro, this is the box the v-drum pad plugs into. I had the plastic mount that screws to the bottom of the box, but no stand.

Then I remember that the youngest daughter had a short stand for her tuba that she has grown out of. So I removed the centre of the stand that fits the tuba, and replaced it with an old 90 degree aerial bracket that I cut at an angle so some of the bend still exists.

Here's the final set up, I had to make an adapter cable between the Yamaha hi-hat pedal and the Samplepad, but now it all works. The 8 pads on the Samplepad effectively mimic the sounds of a set of drums but the pads are just hard rubber, A mesh top v-drum snare provides a similar feel to standard drums in terms of bounce. The right hand pedal is the bass drum. But more importantly for me, the Samplepad has a metronome.

Once I'm past the basics, the youngest daughter is having the Samplepad as she does quite a bit with midi and Garageband etc. The v-drum will become a 4th tom on the full drum kit and I will probably sell the stand and pedals, and off course, that crappy seat.

Another roller made today, I am not welding the system to the boat as he didn't want to bring the boat to me so I am just making a few bits and someone else will be welding the aluminium.

I will also be starting on another roller this week and I will be doing the whole system on this boat, just hope the weather holds out for the next 2 or 3 weeks but it is not looking like it will

Popped over to my previous work place with 2tonnes of 6mm stainless plate to roll.. Couple of hours with the right machine and no sweat, and we have top sections rolled for 2 of these.

More drum related stuff. Here's the full e-drum kit down in the man cave next to the brewery. Much smaller footprint than a full acoustic set. But I need a music stand, which I'm already using in my office upstairs, and I can't be bothered to keep moving it upstairs/downstairs, especially in winter as you need to go outside.

But I have an old monitor arm.

And I have the top bit of a music stand from somewhere. I've pop rivetted the Vesa mount from the monitor arm onto it.

Then some scrap plywood sprayed black with the last bit of a rattle can,

This is where its going to be clamped.

Finished, a bit fugley but cost nowt. Just need to finish tidying the cables up.

8m footbridge,finished a month ago,then customer wanted some approach steps,he’ll paint them.
In the meantime a branch lands on the handrail in the big storm,bent a piece of 50/12/6 convex!

Somone needs to cut that ivy! I hate the stuff.

Which is what I was doing yesterday, from a garage.

Chain survived, needs a light sharpen. Didnt do roof as no suitable ladder here. Should have got a photo back of the ivy, it was properly in all the motar gaps and my usual technique to ping it off, hardly worked - do two angled cuts 90% though and then touch the bottom nose corner in the middle and it should ping the ivy at you.

Today a 50 gear old apple tree pruning. The base is hollow but the cambium has occluded leaving two roots in an arch. Couldnt climb it and no ladder, so all with telescopic pruner and cordless prunier.

Got the tail box powder coated and the hinges and lock refitted, hopefully get it mounted to the bike on Saturday.

Some repairs today and last September to this round timber saw,an additional in-feed conveyor,a replacement 40mm round bar for the curtains,dangling top centre photo,second picture,I bent the chain guide on the fly press then welded to the channel frame,will paint it to match one day.

Muddled up the sequence somehow,any way here’s the before image. Plus turned some new spacers from some stock Delrin.You wouldn’t think 40 solid round would bend so much!

Just got the box fitted, quite pleased with how it turned out as I don't like/want full sized top box so this is a good compromise and still allows me to strap the Kriega, or anything else, to the rack plate.
