Not for tax as we found out accidentally...

A few years ago I had an instantly recognisable DVLA reminder letter through the post. Ah Range Rover tax! Opened it up and it was for the Defender. Weird, I thought that was the last thing I'd taxed, come to think of it have I actually taxed the Range Rover since buying it?

Checked on my phone as I walked to the house from the post box and untaxed for the last 9 months. Couldn't believe I'd not had anything, had we not gone out of the local area I'd have believed it but aforementioned Range Rover had been bought in Leicester and driven back to Wales. In those 9 months it had been to Scotland and back, Northumberland and back, North Wales and back three times and Surrey and back. Not once did we have an issue.

I once drove my Rover 800 with no MOT for over six months. The reminder had come from the garage who normal did it, but I was away working offshore so ‘er indoors just put the letter in the draw of the hallway desk.
She never put in the pile of mail for me to check on when I got home, she never mentioned the MOT was due, she just wedged it in the ‘junk draw’.

I was sat in a traffic car several years ago after getting pulled. Every few seconds the car "Pinged" quite loudly - so I asked.
The onboard systems in the car automatically ran the passing car registrations through the DVLA database, and Pinged every rime and anomaly came back.
Given anyone can enter a Reg on DVLA & establish if any car is taxed & insured, it makes sense that the Police ANPR can also.
(Equally I'm pretty sure the Scamera's do not do this - they are operator Scamera's targeting speed only)

The traffic cars have ANPR linked to DVLA database for tax, insurance etc, plus there are other wee vans deployed doing tax checks roadside around here.

The GoSteal Scamera Vans are set up for targeting revenue from exceeding posted limit.
(The vast majority on the roads are legal, honest Taxpayers.... I.e. the very easiest to target and exploit as they are on the system. A Scamera van has zero effect on a cloned, illegal, unregistered, stolen etc etc vehicle user)

I was shocked to hear on TV that something like 15% plus of all number plates on vehicles on the roads are illegal in that they are unreadable by most APNR and speed cameras , But the numpties using them don't realise how easy it is for them to be clocked & stopped

Seems par for the course for the unhappy over paid chickens pecking at key boards in the DLA chicken shed .

A few year ago had a new driving licence come in the post ......correct name , address & post code on the envelope right address on the plastic card along with my ID number but wrong name and it was not me , cut it in four pieces , leaving one tiny vital piece missing ( The driving number ) and sent it back to DLA. I never heard back from them about it .

One of the Senedd AM's (a female, forget which Parasite) was caught by camera leaving the Assembly building with a false numberplate that had partly fallen off, revealing another Reg Plate underneath. This was a fee months ago.
It was reported to Police, who surprise, surprise determined it was accidental & declined to prosecute! You can bank that anyone else gets their car seized, prosecuted and made an example of.

Tbh I can see why many of the public now run iffy plates. The relentless charges and scamera traps are really putting pressure on people who just want to go to work & feed the family, and who need their licence and car to make ends meet. Plus there's so little real police presence that the risk of being pulled are hundreds if not thousands of times less than being rogered by a Scamera on a regular basis (especially in the cities).

Basically law-abiding people are becoming technically "outlaws" as a consequence of unfair and draconian laws and "policing" (by civilians).

It's like a return to the dark days (for the ordinary person) of the Middle Ages - only now the folk hero's aren't Robin Hood, but The Bladerunners.

I'm not sure I'm going to bother with the hassle trying to correct the V5 on the 6x6 given it's listed as a twin axle 109" wheelbase when it left the factory as a triple axle 109 and 139" wheelbase vehicle.
