I once drove my Rover 800 with no MOT for over six months. The reminder had come from the garage who normal did it, but I was away working offshore so ‘er indoors just put the letter in the draw of the hallway desk. Not for tax as we found out accidentally...
A few years ago I had an instantly recognisable DVLA reminder letter through the post. Ah Range Rover tax! Opened it up and it was for the Defender. Weird, I thought that was the last thing I'd taxed, come to think of it have I actually taxed the Range Rover since buying it?
Checked on my phone as I walked to the house from the post box and untaxed for the last 9 months. Couldn't believe I'd not had anything, had we not gone out of the local area I'd have believed it but aforementioned Range Rover had been bought in Leicester and driven back to Wales. In those 9 months it had been to Scotland and back, Northumberland and back, North Wales and back three times and Surrey and back. Not once did we have an issue.
She never put in the pile of mail for me to check on when I got home, she never mentioned the MOT was due, she just wedged it in the ‘junk draw’.
