Plastering dilemma.

We had the plasterer down the hallway a couple of months ago and now I've come to fit the skirting board I've spotted this.

The corner runs out a mile and it's really noticeable next to the wood flooring joints.
He must have knocked the bead and not noticed
We'll get him back in a few months time to do the next room so he can sort it out then but is there anything I can do for now?

Leave the skirting be, & ask him to fettle that bit next time he's there. Simply class it as an outstanding job, for the moment.

Had a similar issue recently, had the living room knocked back to bare brick, damp proofed and plastered...I think the guy got stevie wonder in to do the plastering as it was so far out he actually managed to alter the door frame and now the door doesn't shut, but for the sake of looking half decent I Brad nailed the skirting on, knowing it was coming back off soon.

I assume where he took the walls back, the frame must have come loose and he didn't check it before plastering...upside is we are getting a new door and frame now

Id just fit the skirting with the mitres correct, glue and pin them. When all dry fill the gap, to create a dust shelf to annoy you each time you walk past.

There's many a time I look at something & think: Stevie's been here.

Fix it temporarily and see how you feel after a while. You might find it doesn't bother you and you can live with it. It wouldn't bother me in an old house but if it's a new build where everything else is perfect it might.

You mean you k ow where there is a new build that has square and plumb walls? I throw timber frames together quite a bit and there's naff all square with them

You will be surprised how many plasterers do this when there is no kitchen units or floor to index off.

I’d be tempted to make a timber wedge to pack out the skirting. Maybe split the difference. Wouldn’t notice unless you looked for it.

Fill the gap, paint it all white, and probably never look at it again.

well its either knock the bead off and re do it and skim or .slightly pack the skirting off at the left hand side and caulk it in. a bit of a compromise

Had this at my old place (1905 house). We fitted the skirting to look square and filled the top gap one end.
