Plaster washer covering

Hello all,
I've used some galvanised plasterboard washers to put up plasterboard. But what can I put over it (slilicone, etc,) that will stop it rusting and showing through the plaster?

well if there galve it wont corrode .you could dab some zinser stainblock over them to be double sure or a bit of gloss paint

Don't use silicone, go with @brightspark suggestion, however you haven't used these washers to attach a plaster board ceiling have you?

SG 66, I always felt they could pop off with just screws.

if its getting skimmed it will be a right pain to plaster over them best just use the dry wall countersunk screws ity wont fall down

Thanks all, they are flush to the ceiling so shouldn't be that bad as that is what they are designed for surely?

Because depending on how/why you used them, ( why use washers? ) some washers are to thin and either, if not straight away, the screw heads can pop through their holes, if that happens, you have plasterboard sheets not attached to joists properly, one or two no real issues, drywall screws can pop but most washers of this type are used to attach light weight tile backer board that is not going to be walked on from any floor above.

Washers like this are used to attach to uprights they are not sheet/ceiling bearing weight.

Mark I see. they are flush to the plasterboard. They're just on a flat roof that should not be walked on. (kitchen) I have also used plasterboard screws on their own too. Thanks all. I have to wash up now - strictly is on ......

I've never had a ceiling plasterboard come down just using correct amount of screws, if you were paranoid you could use adhesive too
