The one I got does not need a neutral. But installing it at the switch to use the existing switch defeats the object of a switch in a more convenient place.

Get some of their zigbee switches. You can have switches controlling it wherever you want, then.
You need a damn degree to buy a switch for a light. Lol
I still haven't had time to watch the video above , so I don't yet know if these no neutral gizmos are easy to wire up. Lol
Hopefully with the sitting in a tin can , in a big field cancelled I might get time to install these parts I got.
One question I do have is with this sonoff stuff is there a simple way of adding a trip switch to the electric garage door that shows if it's open or shut on a small light in the corner of the hall.

The easiest option would be to fit a switch to the door that is held open in the door fully closed position, the light would be on when the door is "not closed".

Not sure what your sonoff set-up is, WiFi, Zigbee or (less likely 433Mhz) but they sell most things in all variants. Any how, they sell the door/window sensor:
and then you need the light - easiest might be to buy a smart plug and use the indicator light on that or just plug in a night light:

Wouldn't the sensor operate the light when it activated?
Assuming it acted like a normally closed limit switch.
That's the way I had envisaged it working. The light only on when open.
It's the programming of the Sonoff I have not yet researched. Lol

sorry mate. I have already purchased stuff to sort that. This is how I ended up going down the Sonoff route. Sadly it seems I need to learn to program that lot. lol
I am not keen on using a switched socket to indicate the garage is not open as I need it where we can all see it. Up high.

OK, what are you going to use as the light source and how are you intending to power it?
I dont know...lol Thats why I was asking for suggestions.
I have not ruled your suggestion out, but I only have 2 sockets in the hall and need 3 in most of the time ...so as you can see its hard enough. If I only had it lit when garage was up I reckon battery power would last long enough. Its one of these things that until you know what is available you cant think what suits you best. I have now got some.
Managed to set software up to control them. Easier than I thought.
But now I need to see if the no neutral control box is easy to fit.

and what wires need to be wired into the no neutral switch.
I have seen how to get an indicator up high in the corner. So I reckon a 4 way strip will be ok attached to the one socket and a sonoff switch in one of those outlets. It will also provide a constant supply for my ring doorbell.
Plus it will keep the other outlet available for the hoover when needed.
I have now got some.
