What are "they" called? - Help!

I am working on a project where I have come across those horrible jubilee clip style things on some oil pipes - they are commonly seen on CV Boots on cars - they are like a steel band for which you need a special tool to fit them, (a bit like carpenters pincers for removing nails), to remove them they have to be destroyed or cut off.
Can someone tell me what exactly is the proper name for these fittings?
If I have not explained well - I can arrange some photo's.

Perfect!! The forum comes to the rescue again.
So it would appear they are either :-
1. Oeteker clips
2. Stepless ear clamps
3. Strap clamps
4. Band clamps
5. CV Boot Clamps
6. Clicr-R Type hose clamps.

Correct? Personally I am leaning toward option 1,2 and 6 in the above.

When I enter Oeteker clamps on Ame***n it offers single and double ear hose clamps.
Perfect!!!

If it's Oekteker style you're wanting, then the more generic term is O-Clip.

The single eats ones are better. Less prone to pinching the pipe and leaking

Remember that single and double ear clips proper are a continuous band (a closed loop), so cannot be slipped over a shaft midway along it.

Very true - personally I dislike the things and avoid them at all costs - (single/double ear clips) - bit in situations where space is at a premium, they have they're uses.

They’re used on my BMW bike fuel lines. I bought some a while back but I could not get the damn things to work. The BMW spares place, Motorworks, who sold me both hose and clips reckoned they are the correct size but they seem far too small to me.

I used some proper fuel line hose clip type gadgets eventually.

We know them as ear clips. We don't sell them. But any tower pliers will crimp them

Might be a good idea to say what you want to use them for? CV gaiter clips I would expect any decent motor factor to stock them, for fuel pipes although you can get crimp on clips that are single use I prefer to use proper fuel pipe clips, again available from motor factors

Band -it (bandit) straps, where you have a wind up tool, pulls, bends over, then cuts the strap.

If the oil pipes were over 8" in diameter they would be possible.

Being an improvising cheapskate explains why I use a pair of carpenters pincers to fit them!

That explains what those flat nosed pliers I use for pulling out nails are actually meant for!
