Surely that's the perfect excuse to get the vice moved into the house.

Once you've managed to get a vice in the kitchen past the Mrs there'll be no stopping you. Lathe in the lounge, Mill in the hall, 4 post ramp in the conservatory, the world's your oyster All warm and toasty, and all thanks to a broken corkscrew.

I'll not try to push my luck, just happy the dartboard has survived in the living room for this long

I bet she only allows the dartboard to remain is because if it were relocated it would leave a witness mark on the wall that would require a complete redecoration . If you are anything like me that would take 10/15 years to get roundtuit. So it is the lesser of 2 evils.

Normal folk just push the cork down inside the bottle after trimming off the broken bits with Stanley knife fitted with a brand new blade

Funny you say that Fizzy, only thinking about him earlier, never met him, but forum dealings with him found great. Greatly missed, RIP Slim!

I did not.....but it did make me realise that pulp wine will probably not catch on

Although I wouldn't trust myself with stanley knife if it's the second bottle

Seeing as it was produce in a chemical factory the cork probably give it a lot more flavour

It's the first IA when out down on the beach or when picnicking well away from the mancupboard machinery .

Deliberately: My welding table, cut a 250mm section off so I can make it fit in the workshop better.

I will need to re-weld the frame as soon as the wind dies down... But I put off the cutting for **Language**ing months, so I'm glad I have actually got Started.


Accidentally: Acetylene hose, when I was getting the torch out today I inspected the lines and found a small nick in the hose from running over something sharp...

Cue first looking for a hose joiner, then lugging a bottle of propane over to use the other hoses and a different nozzle.

Dunno when it's happened as they're stored coiled on the wall and get inspected on each use.


On me: My little Komatsu top-handle chainsaw is now refusing to start after being cleaned and dry-stored for 9 months.

I want it for the weekend when I've arranged a mate to give me a hand with some fairly radical pruning to disentangle the two cherry blossoms and ensure the smaller one doesn't get crowded out...

I can take 75-80% of what I need to off with the pole pruner, but that then leaves a single section that's too big to cut by hand, and too high to safely cut from ground level, even through you would easily reach, if you didn't mind gambling on a faceful of chain.

My blowtorch broke today. Had it for donkeys years, I think about 25. Used and used it but replacing my bathroom and the thread has worn out where the has goes. Stripped 3 gas cannisters so zip tied the gas on it to finish.

May be worth contacting DX Commander to see if they do spares?, particularly if you tell them how happy you were with the performance before it's demise.
