Best add gaffa tape and cableties as a precautionBungee cords and gently braking is my method.

I like the idea of a ladder on the roofrack first. Ratchet strap around 1 pipe and the rack - loop the end of the strap around the next pipe .. repeat then ratchet it tight. When you tie it think about it sliding forward, backwards and on corners.
I always use 3 straps for odd loads - safe minimum is 2, the 3rd is a backup...
Grab hold and physically shake the bundle before you start to drive and again a mile later to check nothing has settled and worked loose..
Tying a strap from the end of the pipe down to the bumper / towbar will stop the whole bundle from wobbling up & down.
