The only problem was the safety board that checks that 3 phases are present and shuts ii down if you lose one, we just removed it 15 minutes work.
It had done a Lot of work, and is not as pristine as that one

I think it was only used to get the emissions down and perhaps make the drive train a bit smoother, we'll see how it goes

£3.81...pre budget price ...ran out over the weekend, half the price of the local Halfords even with a trade card, and you don't have to leave the house either....don't get much for under a fiver these days....should see me right for a few years

Not today but Saturday, a book...
I picked if up and put it down several times and whilst I've been playing around with an old radio recently, I don't need another hobby or another branch of an existing hobby.
Then I saw this chapter...
Most of my old lathes have vintage Hoover or similar motors so a bit of information about them won't hurt.
I love this line drawing a couple of pages in and note the lathe in the foreground.
I think it will be an interesting book to read.

A pile of boxes, more precisely the Laycorn boxes/Thomas bins sold by @Jelly_Sheffield . Joshua was very kind in that he actually put them in the back of his truck then drove over the top of the moors and delivered them, they are currently taking up a good part of my driveway and I had best get a wriggle on and shift them before Mrs NW notices! Got the Stanley version in the shed, not used since I had an electric drill. Too much like hard workstanley copied it

I don't know if they copied it from them or someone else but I'm pretty sure it was already produced by someone else.stanley copied it
The story is that they started to produce this type of drill in the early 30s or even 20's I'm not sure I have to check.
They had a lot of success so they named the company META (Metall) BO (bohrdreher)
A quick look to Wikipedia quote

I'm an huge fan of Metabo products and this is something special as the company name belongs from this tool
I don't know if there are any references of the manufacturing years but it's not unlikely to be an almost 100 years old drill

Breast drills have been around since the late 1800s, the Stanley "continental 748" certainly since the 50s.
I imagine there was a certain amount of evolution and cross pollination between different designs.
Surprisingly they were still being made into the 90s! I have one I think from the 60s era.
However, it has to be said anybody using them back then to drill holes in metal probably still hasn't finished yet....
