Hey hey.

The latest con on Amazon seems to work like this: list a high-quality product, get loads of good reviews to appear at the top of listings with five stars, then swap the quality product for a cheap one under the same five-star listing.

Now all the blue roll being sold is much smaller, giving you half the paper you got before. The listings don’t give dimensions or real photos, so you can’t tell when buying. Half an hour browsing blue roll, and still no affordable full-size roll. Think it’s time to break my Amazon addiction and find an outside supplier.

Current on site pallet rate for blue roll here is £11 for X6 smaller ones or £20 for X6 almost equally small, but better quality ones. Can no longer get the bigger ones we used to. (Prices ex VAT)

I'm not sure the downsizing is related to swindling the Amazon review system, it seems that supplies of bigger ones are just dwindling.

Screwfix blue roll works out about the best value for money I've recently found.
Beware of buying rolls that look the same physical size but are so loosely wound they are like a big sponge.

The Mrs bought some bog roll like that recently you could grab the roll in your hand and squeeze it to literally nothing.

Amazon also combines stock from different sellers at the same stock locations so fake products can end up mixed in with genuine products, even 3rd party sellers stock mixed with Amazon's own stock.

As an example, it is feasable someone could make up a load of Wypall L10 labels with correct barcodes and stick them to cheap blue paper, send them to Amazon to be sold. No one receiving, stocking then subsequently picking and shipping the items would know any better.

I got cheap knock off Vax filters even though I went through the Amazon Vax storefront.

I get my blue roll from costco along with kitchen roll.
Only have to buy it twice a year

I thought I was being robbed... £17 for half a dozen large rolls, which I thought was expensive until I saw them for £20 at Been and Queued.

They were at a premium where I worked in the 80's to the extent we would write "stolen from xxxxx" in black marker on each end

We get 12 rolls for £19 iirc, from ebay. Always same seller, just "buy again".

It's not bad quality to be fair.

But can't you just return the Amazon ones if they are not big enough when you get them?

I think it might be more economical to buy Lidl Kitchen roll in bulk. You also stop the colour bleed with solvents that way.

If you have Home Bargains nearby then I think this beats Lidl & Aldi, £1.99 a pack, not the v thickest I forget the brand but looks like you could launder it twice before it disintegrates

We bought some of the Better quality Blue roll from Rufforth Auto Jumble, I feel its not even any use for wiping my bottom!
Now another stall had used but washed roller towels remember them? Its fantastic two for £7 if I remember correctly.

I change the reviews setting to most recent first.

Now it says ‘to be delivered when available, as you agreed to at purchase’ on the confirmation email, no matter what it promised when you were buying.
