Chop Saw bolt?

Hello all,

Thought one of you clever people might be able to help:

My parents have a rather large chop saw (of unknown manufacture) that is in need of a M6 Left Hand thread allen bolt to retain the blade.

It's otherwise only in need otf a new cable and a good clean up.

It's got a massive motor and was used all the time by my dad when fitting out boats years ago until my brother decided to change the blade and snapped the bolt off (LH thread)

I've had a search and can't find anything except massive bulk orders and I only need one

My lathe skills aren't up to LH threads. I can barely do RH threads so I don't want to trust my lathing skillz with saw blade retention!!

LH threads are easy to do, but you do have to pick it up at the right place. If you have a reversing switch on your lathe then even easier. Instead of disconnecting the leadscrew back the cross-slide out and put it in reverse to wind it back. Then drive it forwards to the pick-up point and adjust crossslide to start cutting again.

I find LH threads easier. For right hand, you have to stop before the carriage hits the head or shoulder.

LH, you start on the left, engage carriage when thread counter hits the appropriate number and then just let it run off the end. No need to stop at the exact point each time; successive passes are easier.

Have you tried looking in Yellow Pages under 'fastenings'? I go to a local fastenings co. who are happy to supply allsorts of weird and wonderful nuts and bolts singularly.

Maybe you could use something like a rod end/rose joint. Either 'adjust' the joint end to get a spanner on or cut it off and weld a nut on.

Shouldn't be that difficult to find.
If you can't find any, take a look in the Misumi or Wixroyd catalogs[I would be suprised if they wern't listed]. Holokrome and Unbrako probably make them.
