Weld breaking on injector

im in Orphir and have done a few before, but id guess whatever its in wont be very mobile?
Do you have a mig welder? its the easiest as there is no chance of slag inclusions making the weld weak

Afraid so. Needs must. Live on an island and nobody wanted to take it on. Got two out, last one snapped leaving about an inch hanging out. Don’t have too many options that I can see so thought I could at least try.

It’s for a Renault Traffic. Hoping it will do the trick after a few practice runs. Stuck in there good.

I had one that had been in an aluminuim head on a boat engine for 20 years, so was pretty reluctant to move!! took a few attempts, but the heat of each weld certainly helps loosen things up,
Give me a message if you get stuck and need moral support!

Expect we passed each other this morning….

That sounds pretty seized. If that came out there’s hope. These vans are notorious for this. Seal on the window gives out and water starts getting into the head. Renault were very thoughtful and created nice little wells that the water sits in…although that said mine don’t look too bad. It’s more you can’t get to them. Ok. I might just do that. Complete novice on the welding front.

I remember mentioning to a colleague that we were going to stay in a cottage in a remote part of the Isle of Lewis. Their mouth opened agape. Their family home was literally next door. Well about 300 yards away!!

I can quite believe it. It’s large and somehow small at the same time. I bought an engine from a lad in Aberdeen couple of years back on eBay. He’d moved from Orphir

the green transporter spends much more time in my shed then on the road!
I fitted a new turbo and intercooler and inlet manifold and all the pipe work, did 2 trips to town and back, and then drove all the way to Belgium..... and it dropped a valve on the way home
Shame, it was running bloody brilliant up to that point! that was an expensive recovery truck to the boat, and luckily the AA relayed me all the way from newcastle to orphir on the UK side!

Ouch….bet you were raging. Not nice breaking down abroad.

I took a trip to the Isle of Man on the bike. Overheated all the way there and all the way back. Kept thinking I’d resolved the problem and then it would blow a hose or dump coolant. Turned out I’d put the wrong bolt back in the water fan housing (too long). Minute I turned it over, I had shattered the water fan ‍ epic fail.

Decided to cook the engine rather than arrange recovery (hence the Aberdeen replacement). That was a long and boring journey back (40mph, top gear) stopping regularly.
