Workshop racking recommendations please

I’m looking for 2 or 3 of the 1800/1500/450 H/W/D units, a bit like these:

I helped put up some bigdug ones - quite tricky to assemble, and once done it’s hard to change the arrangement as the tabs bend. Also quite flimsy, but maybe that’s par for the course. I ended up fixing them to the wall. Did the job, though.

Most of my stuff is ‘organised’ into those blue fishboxes. Nothing stupidly heavy.

Bigdug is rubbish IMO, we've got it in the shed, they're wobbly as anything. Rapid is much stiffer, the type with teardrop cutouts in the uprights, and isn't a huge amount more expensive. "Longspan" is better still, but you will of course pay more (I ordered some at work last year a similar size to what you're after, didn't get much change from a grand).

I agree, why buy new when there is so much 2nd hand shelving available and prices are keen?

just putting together my racking ....all galv pallet stuff....
bomb proof......
thee are some lighter made models out there......
do urself a fav....only buy clip together racking....
I always put a few heavy steel self tapping bolts so that the empty racking can be moved with a forklift....

I use this racking the only down side is the selves are 2 inch wire mesh, I soon replaced that with 12mm ply and kept the mesh for other projects.

Well worth the money if S/Hand racking is not available locally, and they deliver, but north scotland........

You could always fit a rollcage to the new one Lol. I am not really worried Bout protecting a new one. I am asking for the 2 trees within falling range to be felled anyway. Problem is even finding one of these damn sheds locally. Even the ones listed as in Birmingham are shipping only and...

Thanks - just looking through all the recommendations.

Second-hand does make sense, but much less availability up here and I could do with it now. New workshop is piled up with stuff and jobs are already coming in.

Yesterday:
1. Weld up 5 cattle gates - I can't find the rods, wire brushes, grinder, etc.
2. Freelander 2 'making a funny noise' - jacks, stands, GAPIID tool all buried.
3. Run up a few hundred m of decorative fascia board on the (3ph) spindle moulder - need to install a phase converter and can't even find the claw hammer to knock in the wire clips.

Might go for the Rapid.

I've used Rapid stuff in my garage and been happy with it. Trying to hunt down suitable second hand stuff that would fit was a pain and a time sink, so easier to just order from them. Got a mix of Rapid 2 and 3 in the garage, and a bunch of their basic shelving units in my storage container. Planning on getting a bay of longspan in the garage too, once I eventually sort out a new power feed and compressor!

Faceache market place usually has plenty, we bought older stuff as its more robust, we went to Newark Jumble a few years ago and a chap turned up with a 7.5T van full of brand new high quality boxes, fitted perfectly on our racking.

The Costco Whalen shelving is very good. Had it for years. Looks like they've stopped doing it online but if you have a card it's worth a look in store.

I went for the Rapid a couple of weeks ago The teardrop locking is much better than the Dug tabs.
