She could just pay the company who've pulled her boat out, but that'll be 3x what I'll charge.
Exactly. She's wanting cheap, but will be expecting the earth. Say no.

I'd rather stay in bed I think.if you want it give an estimate and if it turns sour you charge extra to cover the cost and state that to the punter![]()
Thats very common not allowing outside folk working in their yards, but its a good excuse not todothe job and the other is my insurance for liability wouldn't cover me!Other aspect is do the boatyard that hauled it out even allow outside contractors? Many yards dont allow them & if they do want a piece of the action anyway. Not worth getting involved with deals like that.
Not had many hedgehogs this year, been a very strange year."Old Alloy" Repeat after Me "Old Alloy" corrosion "Old Alloy"
Holiday good food and wine
How are the Hogs this year ?
Run awayWell as of today, I'm on holiday for a fortnight. All good.
Some lass, friend of a friend, asked me to change the oil seals on a Volvo Penta sail drive, fairly easy job, now it has suddenly become that and engine out and change rubber skirt. But judging by her photos, it all looks inaccessible, I'm tempted to run away it's over an hour away, and I really don't fancy it. Or it'll be very expensive...
When you get a job you don't want to do, you can always put in a ridiculously high quote.
If they decline it, then you won't be disappointed and you can mentally tell yourself you didn't turn down the work - no "what-if" regrets.
If they accept it, at least you know you'll be minting it for the hassle factor which will take some of the sting out of it when your cursing the job.
Don't do it. It took me a long time to realise I was making my life difficult by trying to help people.Well it's gone from a straight forward job, to a pain in the **** job.
She could just pay the company who've pulled her boat out, but that'll be 3x what I'll charge. But I'm verging on not wanting to get involved, it's not something I've done in years, and it's stinks.
Run away. You could take the money but there WILL be unexpected problems- some of which may materialise after your holiday- so you end up committed when you don’t have time or desire to resolve them- an hour away from home!!
