Trolley jack stand

Made this today out of 2 jack stands ,Put this between the trolley jack.it takes the strain out of the seals on the trolley jack

That is a jolly good idea.

There is an issue with so much weight concentrated in the centre of the rear axle though. It really ought to be distributed to either side, closer to the wheel pivot.

IMO after 60 yrs of playing with vehicles & jacks , jacks are only meant for lifting , you're much safer using quality axle stands to support the load and remove the jack , which being on wheels can move and cause injury

That my opinion as well - axle stands in pairs - and I have survived 41yrs in the motortrade intact.

I really anal about axle stands - thick plywood pads under then on tarmac.

YUK! Amazon will fullfill a sold item from a customers stocks they hold , the customer aka sellers bring crap in by the container load & sell all manner of dangerous crap
Think of Chinese knock off truck oil heaters , many were withdrawn after someone in ( IPSWITCH ?)trading standards raised concerns about them and the provision of poor unsafe installations for use instructions

Re that jack .
It appers not to have a positive cup for things to rest in , plus the jack can be knocked round from the handle end causing the load to break away from the pad .

NEVER work under a load supported by a jack . It's not sound nor stable enough .

I further comment , adding , The small foot print of the jacks four wheel base is very unstable , the base spreading the load is too narrow , mess around with the unsafe jacks & dangerous methods of work at your peril .

I'd still want a couple of axle stands as insurance, but I can't see a problem with it personally. Seems like a good idea to have an extra bit of safety, and better than working off a jack on its own.

A lot of the time you can only get a jack or a stand in a location, and not both together.
At least this way you can get the jack in, and then put an additional safety stand somewhere else where doesn't have to support the weight other than in an emergency.

I had to call the AA out not so long ago, the Patrol had a jack with the similar idea but it was all built together as a single unit, I enquired and he said it also works as an axle stand

Being mobile, I guess storage space might be precious. A device like that shown is easier to stow than a triangular stand.

I wonder if the AGM one in its closed position is short enough to clip to the side of the jack between the front and back wheels (and the jack hadle the other side). That would be neat and compact.

my mates dad got squashed under his vehicle . the jack gave way i use stands or chuck the wheel under if its just to get it off the ground and im not underneath got a pit in my garage for doing that

Wooden blocks - matched pair of axle stands - and chuck the wheels you just took off under the sills/axles.

Couple of wheels under the sill will save your life...

Sinking jacks - axle stands on soft ground is the killer...
