Anyone come across or know anything about this lathe ? Any idea what money this is worth ? or what would you pay for it?
Yip been there

My plan was a restoration ,but not for that money .Sounds like a lot of money for something in that condition. The rust on the bedways looks more than surface rust. The motor drive belts look like a lot of sorting out. General condition is very poor. Check if the quadrant for the change gears is present, could be very difficult obtaining one for such a rare lathe. pictures show spare chuck jaws but no 4 jaw chuck, again depending on nose mounting could be difficult to obtain. Your location probably makes it difficult to find lathes locally but there are much better lathes for that sort of money, I don't think I would want to pay more than half that price and only if you are experienced/confident about restoring it.
Scrap money maxwouldnt even give 200 for that if i didnt have one and thats being generous . if i was selling it id at least clean all the rust and crap of it and look half decent even if it is shagged out . some mug would fall for it![]()
If you lived where I do ,you consider more when contemplating . Lathes/mills and the like are like hens teeth up here and when one pops up they want an arm and a leg for it ,so everything has to be considered . I messaged the guy to give it a clean up so I could see if it was worth taking a look at ,I have my doubts the ways will be good it looks like it's been sitting outside at some point.Scrap money max
So are you suggesting I buy a few and run them up-your way for a profit!….its worth travelling for good stuffIf you lived where I do ,you consider more when contemplating . I gave £100 for a very similar Boley.
theres still some decent machines about for under 600 quid that havent had a hard lifeI'm not new to lathes and mills ,have had several over the years ,they were sold on because when they are up and running I get bored of them then sell them on ,and honestly I enjoy the challenge of restoring stuff thats not 100% . If!!!! I go look at this lathe I wont be paying asking price by a long shot . The guy bought it as a project and that's how I see it . I only asked what people thought it was worth purely for food for thought and hoping someone might have or own one .someone new to turning will soon get pis.sed off getting that in some sort of working order trying to do accurate stufftheres still some decent machines about for under 600 quid that havent had a hard life
I'm not that interested in the collets to honest . Everyone mentions "oh that's scrap money" I don't see it that way ,these were bloody nice machines back in the day .The collets may be a standard size, or they may not? Cant see a draw bar in the box? Likewise tailstock taper on German machines is sometimes their own peculiar offering, Good luck finding bits if they are non standard tapers. Its scrap money really.
Been there ......Here you go, https://www.lathes.co.uk/leinen-L4Z/ , Looks like there is a lot of the drive mech missing.
