My first angle grinder was/is a B&D 7 inch (which I still have and use every so often) is has a metal gearbox/plastic motor housing, I purchased it from Southern Discount Store in Ilford when I was 17 years old, I'm now 68.That's a Black & Decker 7" angle grinder. I had one until this year bought it off a member here. They are rugged but very heavy and they use a larger thread than modern 7" and 9" grinders which I think are 14mm. These are probably 5/8" thread. The discs fit the same but don't lose that nut.
Mine came with a particularly vicious wood carving attachment. I may still have that bit somewhere but it will be a while before I find it.
